A guest article from Elisheva Seeman the creator of the Dyscalculator.
I first became aware of Dyscalculia when I noticed that my friend couldn’t read numbers. I couldn’t understand why she would always ask the people around her to tell her what number was written down or why she would repeatedly ask what time someone said they were picking her up. When I realised how much Dyscalculia affected her daily and how much it caused her to struggle in many areas, I decided to find her an app or website to do the calculations for her. I figured that she was not the only one with this issue – someone must have developed a program to help with that.
I was wrong – all the apps I found when searching were geared toward teaching math instead of offering tools to help people. So, I created an app specifically to help her with numbers – and she loved it! She used it every day in different ways, building up her confidence and helping her become less reliant on other people.
Once I researched Dyscalculia a bit, I discovered many others with the same problem. Because I had some free time during the Corona lockdown, I decided to expand the app and take it to another level so it could be helpful for all kinds of people. After developing a stable version, I posted about it on a Facebook Dyscalculia Support Group. I got overwhelmingly positive responses and many suggestions and requests for features to add to the app – which I did.
This app is called (sorry iPhone users – it is too expensive for me to get it to work for iPhone:) The Dyscalculator includes all sorts of number calculators to help people with dyscalculia get through the day independently. For example, it consists of a change calculator, a sale calculator and VAT tax calculator to help with shopping, a conversion calculator for cooking, various time calculators, etc.
I made this app to help people with Dyscalculia be independent. And I think this app helps.
If you have trouble with numbers, please give my app a try – and leave me a review to let me know what you think and if you have any ideas for improvements.
Thanks for this. Is it free?

I teach Spec Ed Middle School and your app fortunately works for Chromebooks!!
All the class think it is a cool app and there seems to be no stigma attached since it was rolled out as my new favorite Tech Tool! They all enjoy using it!
BUT….
You really need a slick – cool – user How TO sheet. My admin were confused why I even wanted to use this app. Just a thought….
THANK YOU for caring about your friend and giving a great tool for so many!!
Nice.
I just downloaded the app. Thank you so very much for this wonderful and sincere application. I’m in awe of just how much you’ve managed to cover in dealing with a dyscalculic day.
So very great full. Spreading the word!
